Hey Lovelies!
Quite a few people IRL have made statements to me lately along the lines of 'Gosh Whitney, I don't know how you do it all!'....'I couldn't work and be a single parent.'....'Whitney, how do you do it all?'
The quick answer to that is I don't.
Right now there are dishes in my sink, laundry on my floor, and toys everywhere. I'll probably get to the dishes tonight after dinner, and I might do a few loads of laundry tonight because I had to wear boot cut jeans from 4 years ago to work today.
I get more cleaning done in the 30 minutes before the baby sitter comes over than I do all week.
Sometimes we have popcorn, berries, veggie sausage, and a Carnation Good Start nutrition drink for dinner. Well not we...Boomer has that....I have whatever I remember to eat before I pass out.
Sometimes I have makeup on when I leave for work, most of the time I'm just glad everything matches and I'm socially decent.
Sometimes I let Sponge-bob babysit Boomer for 30 mins, so I can sit ALONE for the 5 or so minutes in between commercials. Because you bet your sweet buns as soon as a commercial comes on Boomer flies up the stairs to 'check' on me.
I also have an amazing helper.
I literally could not do what I do everyday without my mother.
Yesterday I called her at 5:20pm....10 minutes before I was supposed to leave work and pick up Boomer and asked her to please grab Boomer from school so I could finish up a few work items. There was no hesitation, she just said ok.
A few weeks ago I was sick as a dog, and couldn't even get up to feed Boomer dinner. Boomer called my mom, and she came over and fed Boomer, medicated me, and got us both in bed. (My mom is terribly allergic to cats by the way, so anytime she comes to my house she is guaranteed an asthma attack, and she still comes.)
Mom told me when I told her I was pregnant that she was never going to be the kind of grandmother that raised my child. I never expected her to be, but in the past 6 months, my mother's help has been a game changer. I appreciate her so much, and make sure to tell her whenever I can.
So that's my confession this week. I don't do it all, but I do what I can.

St. Patty's Nails
I got really bored the other night....as well as excited that I had two shades of green polish that would be perfect for some St. Patty's Nails.
So I got it in my head to do a little step by step of how I did these fun tips!

Seche Vite Top Coat, OPI Base Coat, Gargantuan Grape, and a nice kelly green from Express' Spring Nail Collection |
First I did a base coat. Then I did THREE coats of the light green. (Gargantuan Green) I say THREE because that's what you need for it to be opaque. Be careful with this color because it has the tendency to be a little streaky. (As do most light polishes.)
Ok...next I did a quick coat of Seche Vite to help this dry before I taped the tips....which was a hot mess.....

Sorry its blurry....I'm right handed. |
Then I did another coat of Seche Vite....then I got reeeeeeaaally creative with a paper clip and added shamrocks to both ring fingers. Which turned out like this.
Then it dawned on me that I had the perfect colors to make a pot 'o gold!

The Pot is Ulta Little Black Dress, the Gold is Butter London in Full Monty....and I have no excuse for this blurry mess. |
So is everyone super excited for a weekend St. Patrick's Day. It's kind of a big deal here in C-bus, because of our proximity to Dublin. I think I may step out for a bit this year. Confession: I've never actually gone out for a St. Patrick's Day. I'll let you know how it goes.

Its how much??????
So I work part time in a mall.
Which means I am constantly inundated with things to buy.
There is a Godiva store on my floor. I love their chocolate covered strawberries. Somehow it has always escaped me how much they actually cost.
Wait for it.....
For two of their admittedly ginormous chocolate covered strawberries it costs $14!!!!
I found this truly appalling and said 'Self, we can make our own for waaaaaaaaaaaay less.'
What you don't address yourself while thinking out loud? Oh...umm...well ok.
Put your chips in a double boiler...... |
Stick those bad boys on a fork and dip them in chocolate, set on wax paper, chill then eat! |
This is seriously the easiest recipe ever. Some call for bakers wax (or some such nonsense), but these were amazing all on their own. This is a eat the day you make them sort of snack, they don't save well. I think they would be great for a party. Next time I'm thinking of making a tuxedo version with white and dark chocolate for a dinner party. Yumm :)

Two Too Many?
So here are my identical dressed that I purchased way back when my second year of college. (Circa….2004ish) They were on the rack at Marshall’s and I just couldn’t walk away. My roomie made fun of me, but I stuck by the purchase. This is kind of a big deal. I’m a notorious returner. Seriously. I asked JJ if we could return my first car the day after I bought it.

I have to tell you guys Boomer took these pictures. I think she’s pretty awesome for a five year old with a crappy point and shoot. Not that I’s give her a DSR….or that I’d give myself one for that matter.
So now I have a question for you guys? How would you style these dresses? Transition the black and cream into fall? Add accessories? Wear one as a shirt? I guess the possibilities are endless, but my mornings getting ready for church aren’t. Catch you guys next time!
