I'm not a playa....I just crush alot

Hey Lovelies!

And hello new lovelies! (Seriously there are a lot of new people popping up. Feel free to say HI! and introduce yourself. I love my followers.)

Anyway....usually I'd be linking up with my love Sami to tell you all about my weekend. My weekend was boring as hell. So I'll spare you all, and instead be super late to the blog crush party and link up with Erin.

First we have to talk about this girl!

Its Whitney, from I Wore Yoga Pants to Work.

We share a name, a love of white wine, and back that azz up Fridays (late 90s early 2000s hip hop and R&B). We're also Leos (Duh....that splains a lot) I'm not sure exactly how we found each other, but after a series of awesome comments, tweets, and emails, I've gotten to know a lot about her over the past few months. I can honestly say there must be a blate in the future, because I'm pretty sure she is the kind of chick I would have an amazing weekend with. We also recently discovered we share the same birthday. We are exactly a year apart (I'm older, so that nixes our separated at birth theory.)

Then there is the lovely V (Vahni) of Grit and Glamour.

This was one of the first blogs I started reading, and I read through her entire archive in one weekend. She also did me the honor of following my blog when I was a newbie. (Like 5 followers!) She has such a distinctive voice, and style. I'll find myself looking at a press release for a designer, or their newest look book and either thinking V would wear that, or I know she'll have something to say about this, and then a few days later there is is up on her site. I guess if I was giving her a title she would be blogger I most want to be like when I grow up. I want someone to be able to look at something and say 'Oh that's a Whitney piece.'

This next girl I found from a tweet of V's.

Its Christina of Profresh Style.

Yes, she too is a fashion blogger, but this girl keeps it real about EVERYTHING! She talks about dating, life in the city not being as glamorous and easy as we may think, food (seriously drool worthy pictures), and of course blogging and the community of bloggers. I find her refreshing and humorous and I would steal her closet if I could. And she's gorgeous. Doesn't hurt.

These ladies are my recent crushes, and I've so enjoyed learning about new blogs through all of your posts linked up with Erin! Anyone else I should be reading? Leave a comment and let me know!

If I were a boy......

......even just for a day....

Ok..sorry. Couldn't help it.

Today I'm linking up with Erin from Living in Yellow to tell you all about if I were a boy....

*Disclaimer* Some of my answers are gonna be inappropriate. So deal.

If I were a boy, I'd write my name in the snow with my pee. Yes this is juvenile and immature, but this is what I would do. Not to say that I can't do it now, but it would be really involved. We're talking public waist down nudity involved and I'm not trying to go to jail. You can be topless in public in the great city of Columbus, but bottomless is frowned upon. If I were a boy, I could just whip that sucker out and write my name. 30 seconds tops.

If I were a boy, no one would have a problem with me chopping this all off.

This picture is 2 years old....my hair now reaches my belt!
In fact unless I was this guy, everyone would be begging me to cut this shiz off.

If I were a boy,  when my daughter was the right age. I'd take her out on a series of dates so she would know exactly what to expect from future suitors, and which to show the door. Heck, I might do this anyway.

If I were a boy, there would be a lot more pictures of me doing this.

When you let your sick child take a pic of you....

If I were a boy, I would be less likely to have my college degree.

If I were a boy, the likelihood of me being in jail would be 6 times that of my white counterparts.

If I were a boy, and I didn't attend college the likelihood of me being in jail increases 21%

If I were a boy, I would be at risk for HIV at a rate 8 times higher than my white friends. (Those rates aren't great for women either.)

*These statistics are from a Pittsburgh Gazette article and may have changed in recent years.

Sometimes I just have to throw in a little realness to this here blog.

And now because everyone probably has that Beyonce song stuck in their head, I will leave you with my favorite cross gender anthem.

5 Things You Must Buy

So today I'm linking up with Erin and her five things you must buy link up. Here is my list:

1) Urban Decay Primer Potion
Image Via
So make-up gurus, junkies and the like all over preach the gospel of eye primers. This is my personal favorite so far, and I have used several. I'm so glad that they finally changed the packaging. Before they put it in the squeezable tube you see above it was in a ridiculous, almost lip gloss like tube. You would think it was all used up, but there was actually quite a bit of product left in the tube. There are a lot of youtube videos teaching you how to cut it open and get the rest out.

2) Lancome's Bi-Facil makeup remover.

Sephora
Words cannot express how much I love this stuff. I am a makeup junky, but I hate scrubbing off makeup because I'm terrified that I'm going to rub wrinkles into my face. This stuff is like a Mr. Clean Magic eraser for your eye makeup. It has an oil based and water based formula that you have to shake up everytime you use it. A-mazin!

3) Goody Slide Proof Hair Bands

So the packaging that I have says new and improved and looks a little different than these. These are lifesavers. I have A LOT of hair and when its straight especially, my hair just will not stay in normal hair ties. These babies grip and stay put without damaging or pulling out my hair.

4) Lush Ocean Salt Cleanser

I really enjoy Lush. The store is so fun to go into efverything smells so yummy. I also appreciate their packaging and recycling efforts. The Ocean Salt scrub is just something I love so much. I've bought several of the little black pots since I was first introduced to it last summer. Its great as a facial scrub (if you don't have sensitive skin), but its also wonderful for the bikini line after shaving. Plus it's got vodka in it, and well Katy loves the vodka.

5) Starbucks Cinnamon Dolce Latte

My store is right next to a Starbucks. It's terrible. I ought to just buy stock in the company at this point. I used to be a strictly White Chocolate Mocha girl, but one of the baristas told me I should try the Cinnamon Dolce Latte and my oh my! I haven't had anything else in weeks.....although I will be cutting down on my Starbucks intake to cut back on some spending.

Well lovelies, that's my list for right now.
