And then I got frustrated....

OK I know I said I wasn't going to turn this into a divorce bog, and I wont.

I said I'm not going to bash JJ, and I won't.

I am however going to unload a little bit today.

Yesterday we attended a parenting seminar. A court ordered, two hour class all about 'putting the children first.' For two hours I sat there and listened to a very happy smiley woman instruct me not to talk badly about my co-parent.

To not discuss our personal lives with each other.

To avoid conflict in front of the child.

To take care of my own emotional needs, and not allow my child to parent me.

No! Really? I had to take two hours out of my day for this crap?!?!?!?! Essentially missing half a day of work to be told the most common sense bull crap ever. If you really didn't know this information beforehand you need a hell of a lot more than a two hour class.

And let's just touch on all the hoops you jump through to even get divorced.

To get married, you walk into a room, tell a person your name, show them your license and birth certificate and they hand you a piece of paper. You have to have that piece of paper signed by the officiant and two witnesses and BAM! Married.

To get divorced you have to file. And then have a hearing where you essentially meet the judge. Then you mediate temporary orders. Then you have this stupid class (thank you state of Ohio), then you'll have another hearing. This is the process for agreeable people. Heaven help you if you are contesting ANYTHING. If it was this difficult to get married, the divorce rate would be much lower.

I'm exhausted.

I filed back in October and I'm just so ready to be done.

Ok rant over.

Mommy Confessions: And then Boomer got a nicer gift than I did....

Today I'm linking up with Heather and Megan for another Mommy Confessions!

So some of you follow me on Instagram (katygoesboom), and you saw when I posted these pictures.

Yes, dear readers, that is what my sweet baby got for Valentine's Day. From a 6 year old boy.

I'm not gonna lie. When she came running up to me that day full of joy and excitement that K had gotten her a necklace, my world literally stopped.

She was clearly sooooooo happy, and I didn't want to stomp on that. But mommy was in panic mode. I thought I had a few more years for this stuff.

I bustled her to the car and then I sped quickly to Momma Boom's house. I needed to hash this out with another mommy. (PS JJ had already determined that it HAD to go back)

This same little boy gave Boomer a felt rose last year with Hershey kisses inside for Valentine's day. So he's consistent at least, even if he did majorly up his game this year.

I sat down and talked it out with my mom....she calmed me down and then I sat down and talked with Boomer.

I explained to her that its very sweet and nice that he did this for her. However, neither one of them is emotionally mature enough for a 'boyfriend/girlfriend' relationship.

Boomer: 'Its TOO nice, isn't it momma?'
Me: 'Yeah. kind of kiddo.'
Boomer: 'Are you mad at ME?'
Me: 'Absolutely not!'
Boomer: 'Can I keep it?'
Me: 'Yes you may keep the necklace.'

Yes, I decided that she may keep it, because in all honesty I think it was a sweet gesture and she was already so excited about it. I did call the boys mother though, because the price tag on the bottom gave me a heart attack. She assured me it was on sale.

Then she told me that K talks about Boomer all the time, even though they are no longer in the same class and only see each other at recess.

That K was the one that said 'Mom, I want to get Boomer a necklace.'

That K used money he earns by doing chores around the house to buy this necklace for her.

That he is often late to be picked up by his mom, because he walks Boomer to latchkey in the afternoons.

The gift became even more sweet then. K tells everyone that Boomer is his best friend, and he goes out of his way to do these nice things for her. If anything he's showing her how a boy SHOULD act. K has always been very sweet and respectful to me, so if these are her first boy/girl interactions I'll take it.

Also my cousin said: 'Boomer needs to keep him on the back burner, he might graduate to diamonds and Godiva by high school!'

If I were going to the Oscar's

Hello Lovelies!

So I'm linking up with Misty today to talk about what I'd wear and such if going to the Oscars.

I love me some McQueen!

I'm a tall not so busty girl like these models and I just love dresses like this. The cut out on the last one slays me.

I'd pair it with some Choos, because I see them taking over the red carpets lately. Louboutin's are fab, but I think everyone forgot about how graceful and elegant Jimmy Choo shoes can be.

I'd lock everything down with a McQueen clutch, and some very simple jewelry. Maybe a knockout bracelet, or ring. These dresses really do the talking.

I'd probably wear my hair up to show off the neckline of the dress, no need to be fussy with my crazy long tresses. My makeup would be smoky eyes, with a nude lip, or a bold red lip and simple eyes. (My go to in real life too.)

As for who I'd go with. Well since I'm newly single in real life, I think I'd hit the carpet alone and see and be seen at all the parties afterwards. I'm sure I'd find plenty of handsome Hollywood hotties more than willing to play escort to next year's award season.

So what would you wear? Who would you take?

I'm the Kind of Girl.....

Hello Lovelies!

Today I'm linking up with my fellow C-bus blogger and friend Holly to tell you exactly what kinda girl I am!

Clearly the kind that wears a pleather shirt to church.....

......who is always singing. Always. I love to sing to Boomer, the cat, the congregation at church, the crowd at the karaoke bar. Music has always been a huge part of my life.

......who might also be dancing. Down the aisle of the grocery store, in the car, at my desk. I'm a dancing fool.

...who will dance in varying stages of undress if the dancing is occurring in the comfort of my own home. Yep sometimes even completely naked. Boomer shakes her head, and then joins in.

....who always has no less than 5 lip products in her bag. What can I say? My lips are a pretty defining feature on this ole face, so I have to make sure they are glossed and purty.

.....who has never met a makeup counter that she could resist. This also goes for nail polish and any and all beauty products. I could seriously open an Ulta in my bathroom.

......who likes to eat crap and not exercise.

.....who was SHOCKED when the above behavior resulted in 10-15lbs gained in the first year of her sit down all day job. YIKES!

.....who likes cats. Specifically because they DO NOT CARE. And IF they care, that means really really love you.

.....who loves her kiddo. A lot. She's fun.

.....will never really grow up.

Weekend Shananigans

Hello Lovers!

Linking up with my girl Sami to tell you all about my weekend, or at least try to. The cat thinks an open laptop is his personal play thing.

Anyway, my weekend started Friday evening after work.

Ya'll.....I had a date.

Yep a legit, he called and made plans date. There were actual dinner reservations involved. Say what?!?!?!

We went to a restaurant downtown called Milestone 229 which is actually right on the Scioto River. Really cool location and yummy food!

So here was my dilemma; do I be a good blogger and photograph everything during the evening including my food, while totally freaking this poor guy out, or do I be a good date and leave my iphone in my purse and just, you know communicate like people used to?

I went with option 2 so alas no pictures.

After dinner we went to Shadowbox, which is a live cabaret style show here in town. Its hilarious. They put on different themed shows throughout the year and of course so close to Valentine's Day this one was all about relationships and relations. (Shadowbox is know for being a little risque, but I LOVE it)

This was a funny two part sketch where there were apps that translated what men and women said, into what they really thought.
Beautiful dance from the show. All these images are from Shadowbox's site!

All in all it was a pretty great date. That being said I've been out of the game for like 9 YEARS so I'm not even really sure how it all works anymore. That my dears is another post.

Saturday morning I woke up and headed over to Momma Booms house to get Boomer and head to church. Well, that quickly got shot to hell as Boomer had locked my mother out of her room. I was more than a little upset with Boomer because after my failed attempts at picking the lock I had to call a locksmith and pay him $74 to open Momma Boom's door. Not cool kid, not cool.

Sunday was a day spent catching up with a friend. My bestie from college was driving through on his way back to the town he works in so we stopped to grab some coffee. Boomer LOVES this uncle of hers, and spent the whole time loving up on him, and trying to convince him to play her games for her. She wants the high scores with minimal effort. After that Boomer went to hang with her Dad for a bit and I caught a movie. I rarely see movies in the theater these days, because I'm usually on mommy duty so that was fun.

Technically my weekend isn't over because I took the day off work to hang out with Boomer today. (She is out of school for the holiday.) Who knows what we'll get into today, but probably the mall, and maybe a nail appointment! She's never had a real none before!

Hope you guys all had great weekends too! I'll be trolling around the linkup this evening after Boomer and I have our girl day.

Sh*t Boomer Says : Vol3

Hi Lovelies!

I know long time no blog....same old song and dance.

But I'm back for another Mommy Confessions with Megan and Heather!!!!

You guys really seem to like 'Sh*t Boomer Says', so I decided let's do another one!

*While Shopping at the mall last weekend*

I was specifically looking for a leather peplum top, but I tried on some other stuff too.

I put on a lace black peplum top.

Boomer: Mommy! Where'd your boobs go?!?!?!

*Loudly....so the entire fitting room could hear*

Me: I just don't have a bra on Boomer.

Boomer: Oh. Well....you should always wear one Momma. You have little breastibles.

Me: ...........

I tried on another shirt, the one I'd came for.

Boomer: I like that one mommy. Its SASSY!!

Me: Well thanks sweetie.

Boomer: But those pants are way to small momma. Your tummy is rolling over.

Me: Umm....I just wanted to see how they looked.

Boomer: Well you should wear some pants that fit when you go out tomorrow.

*Tried on a dress*

Boomer: Mommy....just....no.

You may have seen some of my tweets after this, but I was dying of laughter. I may exclusively shop with Boomer from now on because I know she will tell me exactly how she feels about EVERYTHING.

When we got home I tried on the whole outfit for her opinion.

Boomer: Mom....this is gross.....but....your bottom looks really good in those jeans. And those shoes are the coolest.

Me: THANK YOU!!!!!!

*The other night during grace*

Boomer: God we thank you for this food, for rest and home and all things good.....Oh wait.....Excuse me Jesus, I have a wedgie.

Momma Boom and I: *giggles*

Boomer: Stop laughing! I'm praying! This is serious!

*Yesterday during grace*

Boomer: God we thank you for this food, for rest and home and all things good, for the wind, and the rain, and the sun we love, but most of all.....thank you for mommy, daddy, Mimi, Gg,  and Dave (the guy who did my makeup 2 WEEKS AGO). God Dave is....

Me: Boomer, God knows who Dave is.

Boomer: Yeah Mom duh, God knows everything, but you should still tell him everything.

Me:.....

Boomer: Ok so God thanks for all those people and this food and stuff, amen.
