Blogging absence

Hello Lovelies!

I know I was doing so well....
Sorry. Remember how awhile back I talked about life altering decisions and all that. Well I finally made some actual choices. Took steps ect. And I just don't know what to write. I don't know what to say.

Blogs are happy shiny places...and well the blogs that aren't and that dwell on negative dark twisty stuff....I tend to not read very often.

So I haven't written anything. I think about things I should write about. Like Boomer and my trip to the zoo. Or her first baseball game. But I'm so wrapped up in everything else I can't even motivate myself to sit here and type something worth reading.

I'm still trying to visit every one's space and comment and tweet and all that.....but I just don't have any blog in me right now.

Sunday Social Week 10

Sunday Social
Hello lovelies!

Its time for another Sunday Social link up and this one is about one of my favorite topics of all time:

FOOD!!!

1) If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life what would it be?
Hmmm....I don't know. That's a tough one because I love a lot of different foods. I'm going to have to go with samosas, only if there is chutney sauce. Last time I ordered them I didn't get any chutney and it was super depressing.

2) What is your guilty pleasure/comfort food?
Umm...anything with chocolate in it. Graeter's Ice cream, and oddly enough buttered toast. Sometimes I could eat an entire loaf. (Gross I know.)

3) What is the weirdest/craziest thing you've ever eaten?
For me it was Sushi, just because anything raw is just gross to me. I did it for my sister, but I'll never do it again.

4) What foods do you avoid at all costs?
I avoid pork products, but that's more a religious thing than anything else. I was raised Seventh-Day Adventist, and one of the beliefs is to not eat 'unclean' foods. (similar to Kosher in some ways)

5) What meals remind you of your childhood?
Every Sunday that I stayed with my grandparents, we would have bran muffins, grits, veggie ham with red eye gravy, and postum. I loved waking up to those smells. Now we have pancake Sunday so Boomer will have great Sunday morning memories too.

6) Share one of your favorite recipes and the story behind it.
Apple Pizza
1 Pillsbury crescent roll package
1 diced apples
ground cinnamon and sugar

Basically roll out the crescent roll flat onto a baking sheet. Separate the pieces so they look like pizza sliced.
Mix the cinnamon, sugar, and apples and spread them on the dough. Dot with butter. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 mins.

This was a recipe I learned in 1st grade. Its the EASIEST, quick, yummy desert you can make anytime. I make it, and eat the whole thing. Its bad. I very grudgingly share it with Boomer sometimes. Only if she notices that I made it though.

See ya'll tomorrow!

Friday's Letter's Vol 6

Hello lovelies!

Back for another edition of Friday's Letters, which up until now I have called Dear Friday. I'm not really sure why. Oh well.

Dear work week,

You have been insanely long. Why? Was there a memo sent out on Monday where we just all decided that mere minutes would feel like hours? I just want to know so I can prepare myself for next week,

Dear Boomer,

You start first grade in a week a half. You're killin' me.

Dear Me,

You have totally rocked the creative hairstyling this summer. The fact that you have only heat styled your hair once this summer it totes amaze. And hair is super healthy and long and thanking you too.
Now the inch and a half of roots on the other hand is something you need to take care of ASAP!!!!

Dear Momma Boom,

Once again a super thank you. You've been my road trip buddy three times this summer, and I think it's very cool that I can say one of my best friends is my mom. We have so much fun together and you always make me laugh til I'm crying. I love you!

Dear Besties-

You missed my bday dinner and in a real show of maturity I gave you the silent treatment. FOR DAYS.....AND YOU DIDN'T NOTICE. So now its something of a joke to me. To see how long it takes you to figure it out. (One of you did yesterday...and then made it worse by telling me you knew I was giving you the silent treatment, but that you figured it'd blow over in a few days....really?!?!?!? Do you know me AT ALL?!?!?!?) In your defense, both of you are guys. But still.

Dear Cuz,

Your bachelorette weekend is NEXT WEEKEND. I am sooooooooooooo excited.

Dear Blog,

I have some fun stuff planned for next week. I plan to write it all this weekend before I : forget, lose motivation, run out of time, get sick, you know whatever excuse pops up.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Blog Friends Book Club {Beautiful Disaster Review}

Hello Lovelies!
So the oh so cute Lindsay from 'From Nanny to Family' and Sharee from 'MomFITingitallin' came up with this link up Blog Friends Book Club. I thought it sounded like fun, so I downloaded the book on my Kindle app and got to reading.

This was the second book they picked and let me tell you...I read it all in one night :)

So here are the review questions:

1) How did you experience the book? Were you engaged immediately, or did it take you a while to “get into it”?

I was into the book immediately. It was such a fun quick read.

2) Do the main characters change by the end of the book? Did they grow, or come to learn something about themselves?

I think they learn to trust each other. The learn to trust themselves as well, which is important. You need to 'know' yourself before you can really make it in a relationship.

3) Is the ending satisfying? If so, why? IF not, why not – how would you change it?

The ending was abrupt. I really wanted some more of the story. Maybe a book two?

4) Would Travis be someone you would be interested in dating given he was a "bad boy" with a side of anger issues?

......I hate to say  it but probably. I have a weakness for bad boys, always have. The fighting though would have probably been a deal breaker for me. Only because I would have a very hard time seeing someone I loved hurt.

5)  How did you feel about Travis and Abby's break up?

I kind of saw it coming....and at the same time was annoyed by it. Especially by how long it went on. I found myself saying...'get over it already you two!'
6) Like or hate "Pidge" nickname?

I liked it. Kind of wished I could have a cool nickname :)

So there you have it. My thoughts on Beautiful Disaster. Up next is.....

Dear Friday Vol 5

Hello lovelies!

It's time for another addition of Dear Friday letters. I fell off the wagon for a bit, but I felt like getting back on this week. So here goes.

Dear Birthday,

You were pretty great. I had to turn off my phone at work due to all the texts and notifications. I felt love from the twitterverse, Fb, cards and IRL. It was nice. This was however the first birthday I've worked, which my father informed me 'we' just don't do. (Which explains why my mother HATES that I took of every other Bday til now...) Next year I'm thinking a half day.

Dear Co-Worker,

Your fill in the blank card, was quite possibly the sweetest most thoughtful gift I've received from someone who wasn't family. The fact that you took all that time to pick out just the right nail polish, with just the right name is just......its just so freaking sweet. Decorating my desk was a nice touch to come in to in the morning too. I'm super lucky to work with someone like you!

Dear Me,

You are facing some super scary, life altering decisions. (Whoa Whitney, shiz just got real.) You will be ok. You are doing the right thing. It's time. Put on the Big Girl Panties.

Dear Friends.

I cannot adequately thank you for being a part of my life in a blog post. You have listened to me at all hours of the day. You have supported me. You have loved me. You've held my hand as I cried and doubted myself. You have celebrated my triumphs. You have taken the gloves off and hit below the belt. (Yeah, I'm talking about YOU.) It hurt like hell sometimes, but I needed to hear it. You have called me in the middle of the night,, after receiving an anxiety riddled text. I know you were tired, but you still called. Some of you have been a part of my life for 20 years. Some of you for 10, some for only a very short time. Some only know me through this blog. EVERY SINGLE ONE of you is a blessing to my life. I love you guys.

* Whoa....deepness*

Dear Momma Boom,

You have taken care of Boomer everyday this summer. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. Science experiments, writing lessons, zoo trips! (Oh, my!) You were the best mother any child could have asked for, and I'm so glad that we live around the corner and Boomer gets to experience the awesomeness that is you. I'm so thankful for the time you're spending with her and the memories you're making. I can't tell you how wonderful it is to go to work everyday knowing that she is in you SUPER capable hands. Thank you Mommy.

So clearly the overwhelming theme today is thankfulness. I'm just so darn thankful for all the GOOD stuff in my life!

The Best Day of the Year

Hey Lovelies!

I bet you're wondering why is it the best day of the year?

Cuz its my BIRTHDAY!!!

I really wasn't feeling the birthday much this year and then my friends stepped in and got me all excited and stuff....

But speaking of presents....I got a bunch in the mail last week because I participated in the Christmas in July Blog Swap.
My partner was the truly awesome Kym of bitty.and.bunny.

We had so much fun emailing back and forth getting to know one another before we picked out our gifts. I truly enjoyed getting to know her and hope to interact with her even after all this bloggy goodness. We even share a love of mock meat!

Excuse the poor pic quality, but there are tons of goodies in there. Bath fizzies, a shimmer/bronzer, lip gloss, bangles, a hand woven bookmark (she knows I love to read), nail stickers, and recipes to try out. There are also some cool button/pins that I added to my collection at work.

She made Boomer and I matching friend ship bracelets, and even included a small package for Boomer. She was beyond thrilled. (Especially since Mommy gets all the mail usually. They're bills, but you can't explain that to a six year old) Kym got her some very cool cake erasers, nail stickers, a bracelet, and stickers that Boomer used to decorate her DS.

So I'm a little late, so I missed the official link up time, but if you want to see the lovely Miss Kym's post you can HERE.
You can see everyone else's posts HERE !
